CHSLD Val-des-Brises (2022)

Details of the mandate

CHSLD Val-Des-Brises is a state-of-the art long-term care facility for seniors that can accommodate 240 residents. The concept behind the design and construction of this building was to recreate a warm, family atmosphere so that the residents would feel at home. The emphasis was placed on communal areas in order to promote such a quality living environment.

The flooring consists mainly of vinyl rolls with designs reminiscent of wood floors that provide a pleasant and friendly feel throughout the facility. The areas used for patient hygiene were designed with non-slip flooring to ensure the safety of the residents.

This was a large-scale "fast track" project where more than 200,000 square feet of floor covering and more than 55,000 feet of flashcove and traditional baseboard had to be installed on a very tight schedule, requiring Solathèque to sometimes bring up to 15 installers to the job site and to lay more than 30,000 square feet of flooring per week. A sizeable challenge that was successfully met!

Quebec Minister Responsible for Seniors and Informal Caregivers (Mrs. Marguerite Blais) and the Minister of the Environment, the Fight Against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks (M. Benoit Charrette) both took part in the inauguration of this facility on May 18, 2022.
