Shelf Lifting and Moving: How Does It Work?
Floor revitalization in a library or documentation center can quickly turn into a real challenge. Between managing shelving units, handling costs, and service interruptions, the process is often complex and costly. That’s exactly why we use our patented Liftman system. This unique technology allows us to temporarily move entire shelving units—without emptying or dismantling them— so flooring work can be carried out. Once the renovations are complete, the shelves are repositioned precisely as they were before, as if nothing had ever moved.
How it works
The principle is simple yet ingenious:
- Specially designed hooks are inserted into the shelf cavities.
- Using a manual hydraulic jack, the system lifts the entire shelving unit a few inches off the ground.
- Thanks to integrated wheels, the shelves are rolled to the designated area and safely lowered back down.
This process is repeated for each shelving unit involved, allowing us to remove the old flooring, install the new one, and restore the furniture to its original place—quickly and efficiently.
The advantages of the Liftman system
- Time and cost savings: no need to empty shelves or dismantle furniture.
- Preserved organization: books and documents remain intact and in order.
- Maximum efficiency: work is completed faster, with minimal disruption for users.
It’s the ideal solution for libraries, archives, and institutions where every operational day counts.
